Current Programs:
Miss Barbara’s Morning Kindergarten Class:
Do you have a late owl kindergartener that you want to drop off when school starts? Start your child’s morning with stories, ABC’s, songs, and more! This class will help get your child’s mind and body ready for school. Class will reinforce lessons learned in Kindergarten and look at letters and sounds using the Houghton Mifflin Alphafriends. Instructor will walk kids over to Harbor View Kindergarten class when school begins.
Community Youth Center, M/Tu/Th/Fr 8:00-9:45am, 5-6yrs (Register with the City of Newport Beach)

Beginner Blocks Homework Club:
Make the best of your child’s afternoon! Beginner Blocks has patient, enthusiastic, and experienced instructors to assist your child with their homework. This fun and educational environment will set the scene for cognitive development while fostering your child's desire to learn.
Newport Elementary, Monday 2:35-3:35, Wednesday 1:00-2:00, 2:05-3:05, all grades (ACE, Register with the City of Newport Beach)

Tutoring:
One-on-one private tutoring! Beginner Blocks offers pre and post assessment’s to help track your child’s educational development closely. You will see a huge improvement in your child’s phonic/reading skills, math, writing, and overall confidence. Beginner Blocks follows the NMUSD using the same educational system helping increase educational progress.
Whether your child needs help with homework, is struggling in a subject, or you want to give them an extra educational boost; Beginner Blocks fun and creative tutoring sessions is the answer!
Specializing in pre-k, kindergarten, and first grade tutoring!
1 hour, ages 3-12 (sessions meet in the library).

Testing Tutoring:
Getting into private schools is competitive! Make sure your child is prepared for kindergarten private school entrance exams.  Beginner Blocks testing tutoring looks at 7 important abilities; language, knowledge/comprehension, memory, mathematics, visual-spatial, cognitive, and fine motor skills. These tutoring sessions are designed to boost your child’s IQ and testing score. These sessions are fun and creative. You will see an improvement across all the important 7 areas of educational development.
Main IQ tests: WPPSI, OLSAT, Standford-Benit.
1 hour, ages 3-6 (sessions meet in the library).

The morning kindergarten class is not just for late owls, if you have a child that goes to kindergarten a few times a week or starts late morning this class would be a good fit!

Beginner Blocks is hoping to work with more Elementary Schools, opening up after school Homework Clubs at multiple sites!

Beginner Blocks one-on-one tutoring is really a great way for your child to receive extra support, guidance, and consulting with education!

Beginner Blocks testing tutoring is perfect for a young child who is getting ready to take a private school entrance exam! (Thus far, all of Beginner Blocks students have made it into their private school of choice J)

Summer Camp Week 4! Cat In The Hat & Money Trees!

Summer Camp Week 4! Such a great group of students!  

  Week 4 of camp was so much fun and very busy! Campers listen to the book Cat in the Hat and made their own Cat in the Hat booklets filled with activities that covered; reading comprehension, rhyming, descriptive words, math, and more!

                                                  



 This week in camp we also learned about money! Students learned about counting pennies, nickels, and dimes. After learning about money students made their own money trees!

Last day of camp students received awards for their strengths within the classroom. They also made bookmarks and got prizes! 
This was truly such a fun summer camp! Thank you all for signing up it was a pleasure meeting all the students. Can’t wait for next summer :)

Summer Camp Week 3! 5 Senses & Addition/Subtraction


 In week 3 students explored their 5 senses.
Students created a 5 senses book were they put their senses to the test!

They completed a writing assignment were they indulged in gingerbread cookies.
Then, students used their 5 senses to help them write a more detailed paper. Explaining how the cookies: tastes, sounds, looks, feels, and smells.
Students got to make their own gingerbread man. They decorated them and made covers for their writing assignment! 

 



In math students worked in groups to complete math problems.


Students were divided up into two teams and challenged each other to word problems!

At the end of the week students were rewarded for their strengths in the classroom. Many students were amazing helpers; helping their classmates complete their work!

Summer Camp Week 2! Rainbow Fish and M&M Math!



Week 2 campers worked on a Rainbow fish project! They made their own Rainbow Fish and wrote what it means to be a good friend! In their writing assignment students worked on writing using First, Next, and Last. Writing about the journey of Rainbow Fish and sharing their thoughts on the story.

Camp- Week 1

At the end of the week campers earned an award and were applauded for their strengths within the classroom! 

Everyday campers wrote a journal entry and created a book of all their writings!


 Finishing up "The Giving Tree" writing assignment. These boys wrote about their gifts to the world and how their gifts make others happy.

Their gifts to the world are giving high-fives and laughter :)!
